Mississauga Trades Jobs in 2026: Pearson, the LRT, and the Warehouse Belt

Mississauga trades hiring guide — Pearson airport expansion, Hazel McCallion LRT (Port Credit to Brampton), Meadowvale/Mavis pharma corridor, warehouse and data centre builds, Skilled Trades Ontario framework, and wage ranges.

Free for workers · city-specific hiring context

Mississauga is the second-largest city in Ontario and the airport, warehouse, and head-office spine of the GTA west. If something flies into Canada, lands in a distribution centre, or gets manufactured under contract for a Fortune 500, it probably passes through here.

The trades market in 2026 reflects all of that: Pearson airport in a long expansion cycle, the long-delayed Hazel McCallion LRT pushing toward a 2028 completion window, a continuous parade of new warehouses along the 401/410/407 corridor, and a pharma and life-sciences cluster along Mavis and Meadowvale that quietly employs thousands of specialty trades.

What's actually hiring in Mississauga right now

Pearson airport expansion. The Greater Toronto Airports Authority has a multi-billion-dollar capital program — terminal renovations, baggage system upgrades, airside work, ground service equipment infrastructure, and a long pipeline of cargo facility builds on the airport lands. Aviation work has its own clearance and CATSA security screening layer on top of normal trade qualifications.

Hazel McCallion Line (Hurontario LRT). The 18-kilometre line running from Port Credit GO to Brampton Gateway Terminal is now expected to complete in 2028. By early 2026, Metrolinx was reporting track progress at 36 of 55 intersections and 45% of rails laid in both directions, with station, systems, OCS and commissioning work continuing through 2026 and 2027. Mobilinx is the consortium — Astaldi/Webuild, ACS Infrastructure, Hitachi Rail, Transdev and Bot Construction.

Warehouse and logistics builds. The Mississauga/Brampton/Vaughan warehouse belt is one of the most active industrial construction zones in North America. Amazon, Canadian Tire, Loblaws, Costco, third-party logistics — millions of square feet per year. Tilt-up concrete, structural steel, dock-door fitout, sprinklered high-bay racking, refrigerated builds. Steady work for civil, electrical, mechanical, and finishing trades.

Data centres in the wider GTA. The Toronto-area data-centre market creates specialty work in high-voltage electrical, mechanical cooling, controls, and fire suppression.

Pharma and life sciences (Mavis Road / Meadowvale). AstraZeneca, GlaxoSmithKline, Roche, Apotex, Bayer, Sandoz all have facilities here. GMP-grade mechanical and electrical, validated piping (sanitary stainless), instrumentation, cleanroom HVAC — speciality work that pays well and rarely gets covered in the trades press.

Hospital and ICI. Trillium Health Partners (Mississauga Hospital, Credit Valley) has a long capital pipeline including a new Mississauga Hospital build that will dominate hospital construction in Peel for the rest of the decade.

How Ontario certification works (Mississauga edition)

Skilled Trades Ontario is the regulator. C of Q for compulsory trades, Red Seal endorsement available on most.

For Mississauga's specific employers add:

  • Airport airside access — CATSA pre-clearance, restricted area identification card (RAIC) for any work past the security line at Pearson
  • GMP / validation experience — for pharma work. Knowing what an as-built drawing redline looks like inside a GMP environment is the differentiator
  • Cleanroom certifications — ISO classifications for pharma fitout
  • WHMIS 2015, fall protection, confined space, lockout-tagout — table stakes

Most large warehouse and data centre work in Mississauga goes union for the bigger projects — IBEW, UA, Carpenters, Operating Engineers, Sheet Metal. Pharma maintenance can be either direct or contracted.

The Mississauga nuance

The 905 trades market is a different animal from downtown Toronto. The travel is highway-based, the work is split across many medium-sized job sites instead of a few mega-projects, and the cluster around Pearson means a journeyperson's commute changes monthly. Crews who can work efficiently across multiple sites — and who own their own reliable transport — are the ones who fill their hours.

Pharma and data centre specialty work is where the wage premium is. If you have GMP / validated experience, or hyperscaler data centre electrical experience, it should be loud on your resume — those are the keywords Mississauga specialty recruiters search.

Where to start

Mississauga recruiters filter on Red Seal endorsement, specialty experience flags (pharma GMP, data centre, airport airside), and union membership status. Surface those near the top of your resume.
